Theme Nights

One of the great success stories at GES 3-5 is our experiential learning, which incorporates games and fun hands-on activities into the traditional classroom setting. Research shows that play helps build fluency skills among elementary students, and we’re big believers in this learning strategy.

For a recent series of themed night events, we invited students, parents, and community members to  play along. Students who signed up were able to bring two adult family members for a series of games and activities that challenged their knowledge in reading, math, and science. Games, prizes, and refreshments followed, thanks to help from many local volunteers and business sponsors.

Our Christmas-themed Home for the Holidays literacy event, Math Carnival Night, and Mad Science Night were such a hit that we plan to make them a yearly tradition at the Green Top.
